This impressive antique Taxidermy Indian Sambar (Rusa unicolor) dates from 1891 to 1921 and was created by the renowned firm Rowland Ward Ltd of “The Jungle”, 166 Piccadilly, London. Known for producing some of the highest quality taxidermy of the Victorian and Edwardian periods, Rowland Ward pieces are highly sought after by collectors.


This example is a large adult male neck mount with a strong forward facing pose. It features original glass eyes, well preserved hide and a 6 point antler set (3+3). The mount displays a widest span of 99 cm, a projection of 72 cm from the wall, and a height of 108 cm. The verso retains the full Rowland Ward paper trade label which adds further authenticity and collectability. Condition is noted as af.
