Antique Victorian carved mahogany library armchair dating to the 19th century and designed in the George II style. The chair is upholstered in close nailed and buttoned brown leather which complements the rich colour of the mahogany frame. It features out curved arms terminating in carved eagle hand grips, adding strong decorative character and period appeal.
The chair stands on elegant cabriole forelegs with finely carved claw and ball feet, typical of the George II influence. The rear legs are swept and supportive, giving the chair a solid and well balanced stance. A high back and generous seat make this armchair both comfortable and visually impressive, ideal for a study, library or statement interior.
The piece shows expected signs of age related wear consistent with its age and use, enhancing its authenticity and antique charm. Overall a striking and well proportioned example of a Victorian library armchair with classical Georgian styling.
